Last updated: October 3, 2026. Extension practices below describe the supplied version 1.0.9 documentation.
Conversation content
The extension reads the conversation you request on chatgpt.com to prepare your selected export. Captured text, supported mathematics, code, tables, and images are held in memory during preparation and preview. Conversation content is not saved in extension storage.
Closing the preview releases its document memory. Unused prepared exports expire. Browser and operating-system recovery behavior is outside the extension’s control.
Images and local snapshots
Images may be read from already loaded pixels or fetched from their existing ChatGPT or official asset sources. They are not uploaded to a separate image or PDF service.
With the optional map and web-image snapshot setting enabled, a toolbar click or assigned extension shortcut grants temporary access to capture visible visuals. Full viewport pixels are briefly held in worker memory; only the requested crop is returned to the export. Screenshots are not uploaded or stored in extension storage.
You can disable Include maps and web-image snapshots while keeping ordinary image export. Learn how image capture works.
Preferences and profiles
Local extension storage remembers your export preferences and saved profiles. This storage is used for settings, rather than an archive of your chats. You can delete individual profiles or reset export defaults in the extension’s Settings.
Why the extension needs permissions
- ChatGPT site access: lets the extension show export controls and read the conversation you ask it to export.
- Temporary active-tab access: enables local snapshots of supported maps and protected visuals after you start from the toolbar or an assigned shortcut.
- Local storage: remembers export settings and profiles.
The floating Save as PDF button alone cannot grant the temporary permission used for visual snapshots.
Diagnostics
Optional privacy-safe diagnostics record limited stages, counts, and timing measurements. Copied diagnostic reports exclude message text, conversation titles, image contents, and signed image URLs.
You decide whether to copy and share a report. Check screenshots and any additional information you include before sending a support request.
The PDFs you save
Chrome saves the PDF in the location you choose. Uninstalling Scriptilux PDF does not delete those files. You control what is included, such as selected messages, the source URL, export date, speaker labels, and visible author attribution.
A PDF can contain private material from your conversation. Review it before sharing. Including a source link does not make the original ChatGPT conversation public or grant access to it.
This website and other services
This website contains no analytics scripts, advertising, tracking pixels, forms, or embedded third-party media. Its pages load their styles, scripts, and images from the site itself. It does not set cookies or use browser storage.
The hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as an IP address and requested page, to deliver and operate the website. ChatGPT, Chrome, and the Chrome Web Store operate separately from Scriptilux PDF; their own service and privacy practices apply when you use them.
Questions about privacy
Use the support information on the Scriptilux PDF Chrome Web Store listing for product or privacy questions. You can also read the privacy section of the user manual.
